Joseph Vedrenne founded the VEDRENNE liqueur factory in 1923. Today the PAGÈS VEDRENNE SALERS Company is a family group of unique typical and emblematic brand spirits and Distilleries from France. In 1997, VEDRENNE merged with the VERVEINE DU VELAY PAGÈS Distillery (founded in 1859), thus expanding its know-how in plant liqueur distillation. In 1999, the DOMAINE DE SATHENAY fruit cultivation in Gevrey Chambertin came to reinforce VEDRENNE's expertise in exceptional fruit crème liqueurs.

In 2001, PAGÈS-VEDRENNE opened the CASSISSIUM, a museum entirely devoted to the blackcurrant: history, cultivation, transformation... a guided tour of the Védrenne liqueur factory, tasting... In spring 2006, VEDRENNE reinforced itself again with the famous liqueur DOLFI. The wild strawberry liqueur, a reference product for barmen, therefore strengthened Védrenne's leading position in the field. In summer 2006, PAGÈS VEDRENNE took over the SALERS company famous for its authentic gentian bitter liqueur and firmly established in the Auvergne region in 1885 as well as in Parisian cafés and restaurants.

In 2008, PAGÈS VEDRENNE SALERS took over the Distillery des TERRES ROUGES located in the south west of France, near the Dordogne Perigord area expanding their know-how in fruit fortified wines and aperitifs and unique distilled spirits. At VEDRENNE, as Cassissium visitors can see, everything is done to extract, capture and restore the best aromas and flavors of fruits. First of all, the proximity of the Burgundy orchards makes it possible to select the best varieties and to dispose of fresh fruits picked to perfect maturity.

VEDRENNE is very committed to the producers with whom are established long-term relationships based on practices of reasoned cultivation and regular checks. Some suppliers are certified organic farming. Once in the winery, the fruits are macerated in neutral alcohol. At this stage, VEDRENNE has constantly perfected its production tool. It's large tank of rotating stainless steel tanks has been specially designed to protect the fruits from light and oxidation and to keep the aromas intact during the maceration period. Similarly, racking and pressing are done without contact with the ambient air, allowing the final to have excessively aromatic infusions and rich in color.

The final assembly phase results from the development of specific recipes and formulas developed by men and women who are passionate about their trade as a liquorist. They are the result of the transfer of knowledge and research carried out daily in the laboratory at the various production sites.
